The most challenging part of the course this week was trying to catch up and self teach outside of class because I’ve been sick with the flu(?) and I’m still struggling with major brain fog. My most memorable experience this week was getting a head start on character design. Flebus had the most simplified character designs, very geometric but each character was distinct. The Sunshine Makers had more complicated design but each gnome was identical. Howl’s Moving Castle had far more realistic anatomy/proportions than the other two films and the highest level of detail, especially for Sophie’s old/cursed form. I enjoyed exploring a variety of character designs. Simplifying one of my pre-existing characters for animation will be interesting. This week's sketch sheet shows a collection of characters from multiple DND (Dungeons and Dragons) campaigns, mainly one that I am planning to run in the fall.
