Proud Piece

One of my best recent art pieces was a quick exercise in digital painting. The character featured in this piece is Truman's Dungeons and Dragons character Seraphina from a campaign we play in together weekly on campus. The most difficult part of the process was figuring out the swirling shape of her horns. To solve this problem I did a few quick studies of conical sea shells. Overall the piece was very successful, I'm very fond of the shine on the horns. However, I would like to do further studies to give the horns and crystal details a more translucent appearance. I would also like to learn how to add a visible scale texture to her skin. Eventually I would like to come back and repaint this piece and remove the rough sketch lineart.
